The NCC has approved for the change of USSD codes to check Data and airtime Balance, alongside the providing the commands while the old *556# commands is not longer in used.
This change took place in 2021. The general USSD codes for checking balance and data on the MTN network in Nigeria in September 2021 are as follows:
To check your MTN balance: Dial *556# or 5561#
To check your MTN data balance: Dial 1314#

Therefore, the new USSD Code to check airtime Balance and data, you most follow the prompt, you’ll follow the number 4 to check your airtime account balance because of at 17th May, 2023. The new USSD Code to check airtime account balance is *310#.
