A National Youth Service Corps are ready to leave the orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja, on march 2022, following an order from the Federal government to curb the spread of the COVID-19.

The National Youth Service Corps has decided that married female prospective corps members posted to states other than the one their husbands reside to request for redeployment.

This was revealed by the scheme on Monday via its twitter handle.

Until eligible participants of the scheme are sworn in the various camps they are deployed to, they’re referred to as PMCs.

Once sworn in, they become “corps members” and spend a total of 21 days on camp, starting from the day of deployment.

The scheme , in a tweet title, ATTENTION ALL 2023 BATCH ‘A’ STREAM 2 MARRIED FEMALE PMC’s said, “All married female prospective corps members (PMCs) who are deployed to states where are husbands are not domiciled the report to nearest NYSC orientation camp for their State of Deployment to be changed.

“They are to report during the period of registration at the orientation camp with copies of their marital and other relevant document as evidence.”

NYSC is scheme establishment by the Nigerian government during the military regime on May 22, 1973, to involve Nigeria graduates in nation-building of and the development of the country.

It was establish based on decree No. 24 which stated that the scheme was created, “with a view for the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and promotion of national unity”.

Part of the scheme’s eligiblity is that a graduates must be below or above the age of 30 years upon graduation.

A graduate who graduated before 30 years but skipped the service year, will be eligible since his certificate graduation was dated before he turned 30 years of age.

However, those above 30 get a certificate of exemption – an equivalent to the NYSC Discharge Certificate.

On completion of the service year, successful Corps members are issues out a certificate participating in the scheme satisfactorily.
