Two men, Nurudeen Shortade and Abdullahi Abubbakar, have been charged before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos state Nigeria, to possess for stolen of the woman phone, Opeyemi Oyelami, that was robbed and fordo by thieves in Lagos State.

The defendant were possess by the Lagos State police command on Thursday before the Magistrate’ A. O Salawu, on two recite bordering on stealing, is unlawful for stolen property items.

Punch Metro gather the information on 20 January 2023, around 6am at No 52 Ikola road, behind AIT Alagbado, Lagos State Nigeria, two men, armed robber with a gun, with a bike man robbed TECNO POP 5 and fired Opeyemi Oyelami at her shop.

After attempt of save Opeyemi Oyelami but it didn’t work out, the husband hasn’t hesitate but to report the case to the Alagbado division and an investigation commence immediately to found out her killer and locate where about the phone.

But during investigation, they found out that the phone was with one of the defendants, Nurudeen Shortade, who, after being arrested, led policemen to arrest other criminal.

Our investigation so far, we found out that the robbery suspects that his hand was involved for the killing of Opeyemi Oyelami, Aliu and Yaya, met their Waterloo during one of their operations around Agege area for Lagos State.

One of the criminal was shot dead while the other was arrested with bullets wounds on their legs.

The prosecutor , I. G. Oriabure, tells the court that the offence committed by the defendants punished under section 328(1)(a)(b) of the criminal offence of Lagos State, Nigeria, in 2015.

Part of the charge read, “that you, Nurudeen Shortade and Abdullahi Abubbakar, around 6am at No 52 Ikola road, behind AIT Alagbado, Lagos State Nigeria, in the Magistrate’district, investigation shows that TECNO POP 5 belong to late Opeyemi Oyelami value of N45,000 and hereby committed an offence under section 328(1)(a)(b) of the criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015″.

However, the defendant stand on their word that they are not guilty of the offences led on them.

A. O Salawu requested for the IPO to explain to the court, but during the explanation, he said the defendant is not involved for the killing deceased.

He also said, Opeyemi Oyelami’s killer was captured in another operation for Agege area in Lagos State.

He said , ” we didn’t killed her, she was shot by two robbers; one was in police custody with bullet wound while one whom is late. They are arrested because they sold stolen phone which they are aware that the phone was stolen, and we are been in this business for years now”.

For them to testify, the Magistrate promise them of bail in sum of N200,000 each, with two responsible sureties; and stating that one of the sureties most present three years tax payment receipt and six months statement of account that is verified.

She adjourned the case till June 1, 2023 for trial.
